Loyalty

You say that we are linked in harmony.
We cannot lose if we work together.
Why then do I feel so empty?
I have my own dreams.
Why must I remain bound by yours?
Is this really what loyalty means?

Always calling upon me to charge into danger.
I laugh it off.
None could ever compare to me.
You would be foolish to seek another's aid.
My bravery clears a path for you.
Your light shines through the rainbows I create.

I'm not always honest, though neither are you.
Generosity comes with the job, although I don't always see what you need.
I have to laugh in the face of danger; otherwise, my friends will flee.
It's hard to be kind when you feel so used.
Are you guys anywhere near as loyal to me as I am to you?
Would my rainbows be missed on cloudy days?

You threw me a party, with streamers and games.
Balloons filled the halls; you smiled at my name.
Looking around at our haphazard group...that's when I finally realized the truth.
Friendship isn't about what you amount to alone.
It's about what you make when you're working together.
Who cares if you need to depend on me?

Let the darkness come.
Unleash the storms of chaos.
I will not run, nor hide, nor fly.
As long as my friends are here,
Cheering me on, watching me go,
I'll stand up to whatever life can throw.

Why else would they call me Loyalty?
